5 Distinguishing features n The EPMC permits SMT design even for big currents. n No additional soldering process is required, only reflow. n The EPMC permits to reduce the assembled card height. n Reduced heights of the cards permit to insert more cards in the same rack. n The EPMC is more compact, saving Printed Circuit Board area. n It is easy to customize the component if the customer has special needs.

6 Distinguishing features (cont’d) u By increasing the primary current the dimensions of the sensor are not increasing significantly. u Completely linear without saturation. u Completely symmetrical without false operation. u Highest accuracy (the target is ±0.05%). u SMT for all ranges of current.

7 Distinguishing features (cont’d) u New technology, only one technological process is used. u Small dimensions save PCB area. u No further amplification and signal processing is needed. u Unmatched parameters consistency. u Minimum electromagnetic interference. u Wide operating temperature range.

8 Current Technology Disadvantages of existing technologies: u By increasing the primary current the diameter of the primary wire and the dimensions of the sensor are increasing significantly. u A magnetic material with saturation gives non linearity of measurement and saturation at big currents. u A non symmetrical position of wires in RC Devices causes false operation. u Very low accuracy (±10% in standard devices, 0,2% in calibration devices). u Through hole devices. SMT devices only for low currents.

9 Current Technology (cont’d) Disadvantages of existing technologies : u Through hole devices – old technology, two technological processes must be used. u Through hole devices with a magnetic material have large dimensions. u Output voltage is measured in 5-10 mV (very low). Output voltage needs amplification and signal processing. u No consistency in parameters. u Maximum electromagnetic interference. u Restricted operating temperature range.

10 The Need The existing technologies do not provide sufficient accuracy Also, they do not provide signal processing and need additional components Therefore, there is a need for a new technology that will provide the needed parameters. The proposed device aim to overcome the disadvantages of the existing devices.

14 Size of the Market n There are more than 8800 manufacturers of the old technologies current transformers in the entire world. n The current transformers market is more than 8 billions $US. n It is very difficult to evaluate the market for other EPMC applications because the numbers are huge. n The total world market is measured in Billions of $US.
