5 East Africa: Success due to a combination of tools: −Military presence −Best management practices −Private security −On land EU involvement crucial. No definite solution, need to look beyond 2016.

6 West Africa Urgent need for concrete action: -Military presence outside territorial waters -Local navies / coastguards to ensure security in territorial waters and ports -Law enforcement -Private security -Information on maritime picture & events EU role via diplomatic pressure, development aid (capacity building), mapping, … Look forward to concrete action plan of GoG Strategy Piracy
