By: Connor Z, Grace G, Antonio F, and Bode W Spatial Inequality: The unequal distribution of wealth or resources in a geographic area, so that some places are richer than others.

These are poor homes in Mexico City, also referred to as slums. The residents of these shacks lack many necessities of life like water and electricity. The people settled here make very little money and have very few possessions. The jobs most of these have pay extremely low and are too low to lift them out of poverty. Notice that the homes are one room shacks that are made out of old material from the streets.

This is an example of a wealthy house in Mexico City. Very few home owners in Mexico City can afford these style of homes because very few belong to the upper class. The types of jobs these residents have include large landowners or leaders in business or government. They enjoy a luxurious standard of living, unlike the home owners on the previous slide.

This is a house in Detroit that is not in the best condition compared to other wealthy homes in Detroit. This house is very small and would not sell for a lot of money. Notice the side window is broken and pushed out and the porch railing is close to falling apart. The tree is not in good shape and the home owner probably cannot afford to have a company cut it down. Like many other homes in Detroit, this house represents the wealthy and poor distribution in Detroit. This is known as spatial inequality.

This is one of the wealthy homes apart of Detroit. Notice how the front of the house is in well maintenance compared to the previous Detroit home. Unlike most homes in Detroit, houses similar to this one are offered at a very expensive price and have a lot more features and space inside. The owners of homes similar to this house work for jobs that offer a high pay such as owners of companies and governments.
