1 Corinthians 2:14-3:3 Advanced Christianity

The Christian “Walk” But just as it is written, But just as it is written, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Cor. 2:9

1 Cor. 3:1-2 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to babes in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able.

1 Cor. 2:14-16 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no man. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.  s  s 1 2

Mental Transformation That, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. -- Ephes. 4:22-24 A B

Mental Transformation And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2 1 2

Mental Transformation But he who is spiritual appraises* all things, yet he himself is appraised by no man. 1 Cor. 2:15 *  means “understands, discerns” "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” Is.55:8-9 For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor. 2:16

Mental Transformation 1 Cor. 2:11-13 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things freely given to us by God. which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.

Mental Transformation But he who is spiritual appraises* all things, yet he himself is appraised by no man. 1 Cor. 2:15 *  means “understands, discerns”

How Are We Transformed? 1. Sufficient Input 1 Cor. 3:2 I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able… Heb.5:13,14 For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil. Your spiritual growth is measured by your knowledge of God’s Word. 1 Peter 2:2 “like newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the word, that by it you may grow in respect to salvation…”

How Are We Transformed? 1. Sufficient Input 2. Spiritual Dependence But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 1 Cor. 2:14 Galatians 5:17 For the flesh (  ) sets its desire against the Spirit (  ), and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. 2 Cor. 10:5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. 1 Cor. 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things freely given to us by God...

How Are We Transformed? 1. Sufficient Input 2. Spiritual Dependence 3. Output 1 Cor. 3:3 for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men? But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil. Heb.5:14

Transformation Is Our Calling For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised, God has chosen, the things that are not, that He might nullify the things that are, that no man should boast before God. 1 Cor. 1:26-29 Or Spiritual Mastery… 1.History… 2.World at Large… 3.Human Nature… 4.Ethics… 5.Patterns for Growth… 6.Relationships… 7.Impact…
