2 Texas Educator Evaluation & Support System Systems US Department of Education NCLB Waiver-Fall 2013 Condition of Waiver to develop new Texas evaluation system TEA will develop new teacher and new principal evaluation systems that encourage more frequent, timely, formative feedback and that incorporate multiple indicators of success.

3 Texas Educator Evaluation & Support System Systems TEA Commitment to USDE Waiver: Continual Improvement of Instruction Differentiate performance using at least (3) performance levels Multiple Measure Needed

4 Texas Educator Evaluation & Support System Systems TEA Commitment to USDE Waiver: Provide student growth data to USDE Evaluate Regularly Provide clear, timely and useful feedback

5 Texas Educator Evaluation & Support System Systems The new evaluation systems will: ( 1) foster open and collaborative campus cultures that focus on instructional growth, supportive and contextual feedback, and the development of individual and schoolwide practices that more effectively improve student learning;

6 Texas Educator Evaluation & Support System Systems The new evaluation systems will: ( 2) include multiple measures of teacher effectiveness including in- and out-of- classroom indicators, student learning growth, and teacher self-reflection;

7 Texas Educator Evaluation & Support System Systems The new evaluation systems will: ( 3) provide teachers and administrators with access to online dashboards that tie evaluation results directly to professional learning offerings for teachers and administrators.

8 Texas Educator Evaluation & Support System Systems TEA Timeline 2013-2014-Develop both teacher and principal evaluation system. Statewide steering committees provide input and recommendations to TEA. The committees are comprised of classroom educators, principals, university professors, and valued stakeholders.

9 Texas Educator Evaluation & Support System Systems SPRING 2014 Finalize development and guidelines of new state-approved teacher and principal evaluation systems Finalize selection of pilot districts

10 Texas Educator Evaluation & Support System Systems June 2014 — August 30, 2014 Conduct trainings for pilot districts September 2014 — December 2014 Begin piloting new systems in participating districts

11 Texas Educator Evaluation & Support System Systems SPRING 2015 Conduct refinements to systems based on feedback of pilot districts Begin train-the-trainer sessions for statewide rollout

12 Texas Educator Evaluation & Support System Systems SUMMER 2015 Conduct trainings for new system through ESCs to all district September 2015 — December 30, 2015 Rollout new system statewide
