3 What is Social Media Social media is the use of digital and mobile tools to have a two way exchange of ideas, links, photos, or other information. There are many options to choose from so we’re going to focus on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

4 Benefits of Social Media for People with Parkinson’s Connect with other people with Parkinson’s from all around the world Support group any time, any where, whenever you need it Finding humor in Parkinson’s disease Helpful resources Some Facebook groups are private to allow for deeper and more meaningful conversations It’s FREE!

5 Connect with PAN on Facebook and/or Twitter Facebook Twitter

6 Facebook Search You can search key words like “Parkinson’s disease” and find people, photos, pages, places, and more. Hashtags also work, like #parkinsons or #act4pd

7 Twitter Search Find resources on Twitter by searching key words or hashtags.

8 YouTube Search YouTube allows you to search keywords and you can use the filter option for better results. Keep in mind, YouTube always displays advertisements first.

9 Parkinson’s Organizations Almost every Parkinson’s disease organization is on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or other types of social media websites. Follow all of them for helpful resources and links.

10 Share and Connect Social media is meant to be a two-way communications tool. Build your community on and off line and don’t be shy to ask questions and get help.
