2 WHAT IS ENDNOTE? A citation database (EndNote Library) created by you which: Organises your bibliographic references or citations Formats citations according to desired writing style (APA, Chicago, etc) Creates bibliographies and manages footnotes and endnotes within word processing documents

3 THE ENDNOTE LIBRARY An EndNote library is a collection of references, each containing the information required to create a bibliography Can store to 100,000 references Library filenames the extension.ENL

4 CREATING A LIBRARY When you open EndNote, the following box appears You may choose to create a new library or open an existing library.

5 CREATE NEW LIBRARY Save the new library as Contoh 1

7 MANUALLY ADDING REFERENCES TO NEW LIBRARY Click on References and select New Reference.

10 ENTER BIBLIOGRAPHIC INFORMATION Use a comma between an author’s last name and first initials for correct alphabetising and Save record

13 EXPORTING REFERENCES FROM DATABASES Select articles, choose Export Citations

14 EXPORT CITATIONS Choose content & export format and click Export

15 SELECT A REFERENCE LIBRARY BOX Choose your library and click Open

18 ENDNOTE’S COPY FORMATTED OPTION Select citations (use the control key to select more than one reference). Go to Edit & select Copy Formatted.

19 COPY FORMATTED REFERENCES IN MS WORD

20 CITE WHILE YOU WRITE (CWYW) Then, click on the Find Citation icon. This will open a separate search box. 1st, place the cursor EXACTLY where the citation should be inserted.

21 FIND CITATIONS SEARCH BOX Perform a keyword search or scroll to find a reference, then insert a citation by double-clicking on it.

22 INSERTING A CITATION The reference will be inserted in the designated place The full citation will appear at the end of the document.

23 FORMATTING BIBLIOGRAPHY To change the format or style of your bibliography, click the Format Bibliography button.

24 Choose the Layout tab to adjust the font, title, numbering or indentation.

25 To select a new style, use the Format Bibliography tab. Click on the drop down menu or Browse to choose.

26 The citations and bibliography are then reformatted in the new style.
