All living things…. 3.Reproduce.  Asexual reproduction – making offspring by one parent; offspring are identical to parent.  Sexual reproduction – making offspring from two parents; offspring share characteristics of both parents. 4.Have DNA  Passed from parents to offspring  How traits are passed

5. All living things… 5.Use Energy.  They need energy to carry out the activities of life.  Metabolism – total of all chemical activities of an organism 6.Grow and develop  Every living thing starts as one cell.  How many cells do you have?

6. Living things need… Water – most cells are 70% water Food – provides energy, nutrients, and raw materials o Producers - make their own food o Consumers – eat other organisms for energy o Decomposers – get energy by breaking down dead organisms Air A place to live
