2.1 Student Life and Style Student life covers activities and lifestyles in and out of school that directly affects lives of students. This is a nice example of a layout that is about a topic of interest to teenagers, and how life is for them at this point in their lives, but it is not actually about school … and that’s OK! Stuff like this will be what really catches your eye and brings back memories when you are looking at your book in 20 years.

2.2 A+ Academics Academics covers curriculum-related experiences, wherever they take students. I like how they’ve used the contents of the dominant photo to come up with their headline. They are telling about what they learned in a fun and interesting way.

2.3 A Good Sport Sports covers interscholastic competition [teams and individual sports] and personal athletic activities that students are involved in. Example of a cut out background (cob) Nice play on words.

2.4 The Club Beat Clubs covers the activities of school groups, emphasizing the value of membership and experiences. It’s ok to put text on top of photos. This line/arrow element helps draw your eye from the dominant photo to the top of the next grouping of photos. Also note that this double page spread is not laid out left to right … it’s ok to do that from time to time to mix things up!

2.5 People Skills People records the school population by including portraits of students, faculty and staff. Features are provided on portrait pages to expand coverage.

2.5 People Skills Group shots should be cropped at the waist of the front row and just above the heads of the back row and displayed large enough to clearly see the faces.
