2 An overview of why we should mentor disciples! 1. Obey Christ’s command to be fruitful and multiply. A team will accomplish more than an individual. 1. 3 The primary motivation produced in mentoring is encouragement! 7 The Apostle Paul mentoring Timothy advised him to….. 2 Timothy 2 verse 1- 3, 7 2 Timothy 2 verse 1- 3, 7 “You therefore my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. “You therefore my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 8 All growth goes through a series of phases….. For people there are the phases of; 1. Infancy 2. Childhood 3. Youth 4. Parenthood 5. Middle age 6. Old age For Christians there are the phases of; 1. Babes 2. Children 3. Youth 4. Fathers, Mothers

9 What phase are you experiencing in your life? These phases will make you increasingly fruitful in your life if you will embrace the change required to move to the next phase. 10 These phases can viewed in a number of ways……. 11 Mentors provide tools for a intern to plan their goals….. Use the “Personal Growth Plan” template as a tool to chart the growth goals of the disciples. This should be completed every year. Use the “Model of Basic Values” power point and questionnaire to help the disciples ascertain the values they hold and how that will impact their ministry goals. 12 Mentoring encounters… Meet with the intern bi-monthly in their own setting (home or workplace). If married include the spouse in the process.
