2. Highlights Main object of workshop fulfilled: –bring together experts in different materials to develop a common language and a set of basic ideas and concepts. Commonalities: –inhomogeneous patterns in many oxides and in DMS’s at low x; –simultaneous influence of lattice, charge, spin and orbital interactions as well as quenched disorder; –self-organization. New directions: multiferroics; –functionalities related with heterostructures involving complex oxides; –transport in correlated systems, etc.
