Collaboration=Success (by the way collaboration is not a bad word)

Brief Overview: History- (early 2012). Partnership & Development- Office of Ed, DA, BH all involved. Communication Support from DA (critical) Maintenance & Improvement. Growing Partnerships.

 1 st off, Collaboration is not a bad word!  Hardest part of collaborating is asking or just having a conversation!  TIPP started with a simple conversation!  Willing participants in the process (it is a process).  Collaborate across your agencies and existing services. What causes truancy & chronic absenteeism?

The Basics: TIPP uses Prevention & Early Intervention (PEI) funds from the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA or Prop 63).  Students at risk of school failure and/or Students at risk of criminal justice involvement are populations to be served by PEI under MHSA.  Participating in SARB part of our PEI Plan.

 Assist local SARBs with identifying causes of truancy and providing linkages and referrals to services (including therapy).  Provide additional services such as Life (Strategic Training & Education Program) S.T.E.P.S*  Leverage all resources available and think outside the box (it gives you more opportunities to find something you can do). Don’t just focus on the kids, but the parents. *

 Communication is necessary for Collaboration.  To increase collaboration local summit organized 2012 (and has grown each year).  Partner with Tulare County Office of Education and Region VII.  Collaborate to leverage local resources.  Development of Central Valley Truancy Taskforce.

 Pool funding to develop a professional publication to inform and educate public, parents and community!  SN&R has been used on several MHSA campaigns by different counties.  Invite all partners to assist in developing an effective informational tool for local communities. All involved in setting agenda.  Influenced the California Endowment’s Do The Math Campaign
