Thank you for trusting me with your children this year! 2013-14 It’s ‘Owl” About Learning!

About me… This year begins my eighteenth year of teaching. All of them have been here at Olita. The majority of my career has been in second grade, with a brief stint in sixth grade. This is my first year as a third grade teacher. I love what I do and am always striving to serve my students in better and more creative ways. I have a B.A. in History from Cal State Fullerton. I also went through the CSUF Teaching Credential Program. I hold a Masters in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction from Azusa Pacific University. Personally, I am a mother of two amazing kiddos, Jackson and Mia. I am married to Bob. We are also parents to two kitties and one very spoiled golden retriever named Max.

Goals My goal this year, and every year, is to ensure that my students reach their potential under my guidance. I recognize that each child has their own unique strengths and talents, and I am always looking for ways to help them be successful in what ever ways they can. I want each student to leave my room a better and more thoughtful reader, a more responsible citizen and learner, and well-equipped to handle what their future schooling has in store for them. In my classroom, I wish to foster creativity and problem-solving skills that will help your child to be successful in life.

Grades This year 3 rd grade is transitioning to the Common Core State Standards. The report card will look differently. No letter grades. Our teaching and curriculum will be shifting to align with the CCSS.

Homework Policy Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday each week. Generally speaking, there will be two assignments. They are due the following day at 8:30 a.m. Consequences for not having homework… In addition to nightly assigned work, your child should also spend some time each night working on memorizing math facts, studying weekly vocabulary, and of course reading. Weekly assignments…
