Think critically about the difference between news coverage and entertainment. Analyze news programs to differentiate between the expression of opinion and reporting of news Use reading skills and strategies to understand and interpret informational texts.

4 Persuading the Consumer Persuading the Citizen You are to read “Persuading the Consumer Persuading the Citizen” http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/persuade rs/themes/citizen.html. As you read the excerpts of interviews with industry experts that appear on this page keep your Guiding Question (see previous slide)in mind and find 4 pieces of evidence for your EEJ. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/persuade rs/themes/citizen.html On a separate sheet of paper describe a connection you see between the information in this article and either Feed, Fahrenheit 451, “The Experience Machine”, “The Merchants of Cool” or The Allegory of the Cave.

5 Patriocracy Log on to your netflix account. Look up Patriocracy. You will watch two clips from this documentary. You will find the clip by scrolling the time bar to the appropriate time signature. As you watch these clips keep your Guiding Question in mind. You should find at least 3 pieces of evidence for your EEJ from the documentary. Clip #1: 29 min 38 seconds to 38 min Clip #2: 1hour and 5 min to 1hour and 9 min
