2. About 1-800 Volunteer.org  Our website receives over 2,00o hits a month.  Once we see your opportunity posted, we use it for in house interviews, post it on the Volunteer Center’s Upcoming Community Events page and, when appropriate, email registered volunteer group leaders.

3. About 1-800 Volunteer.org  Once you post, your opportunity filters to five different websites automatically: idealist.org, serve.gov, californiavolunteers.org, networkforgood.org and volunteermatch.org  We do our best to get agencies we partner closely with, as well as new agencies volunteer needs met.

4. Accessing your agency’s 1-800 Volunteer account  Before you login to your account, you will need your agency’s 1-800 user name and password.  If no one at your agency has this information, please contact me at the Volunteer Center and I will email it to you.  Then, go to www.scvolunteercenter.com  Click on the Volunteer Now button  Click login

5. Accesing your agency’s account  Once logged in, make yourself the Primary User.  To do this, under My Account on the lefthand side click Users.  Then, in the upper righthand corner you will see Create New User.  You can then check a box making yourself the primary user and enter information.  If there is not an additional user listed who currently works at your agency, one should be added.

6. Posting a volunteer opportunity  Click My Account on the lefthand side to get back to the main page.  You will see a series of icons in the upper lefthand corner. Click on Create New Opportunity.  Be sure to post your opportunity or event as an Opportunity verses an Event which functions differently.

8. When posting an opportunity:  Be sure to enter in an estimate of volunteers needed. If you check flexible, zero will show as the number needed:  Please be specific in your description. For example, many events run for eight hours, so be sure to include volunteer shift times, if snacks will be provided, etc.

9. When posting an opportunity:  In the Details section you will be asked to check a series of boxes.  Occasionally, your opportunity will coincide with a HandsOn Network campaign, (National Volunteer Week for example), otherwise click Not associated with any campaigns below.  The same is true of Disaster and RSVP categories.

10. Volunteer referrals  Once you have your opportunity posted, a volunteer may Express Interest using their 1- 800 account.  You will receive an automated email from 1- 800 informing you once a volunteer expresses interest.  Is is of your best interest to contact the volunteer immediety, as they may have expressed interest in multiple volunteer opportunities.

11. Volunteer referrals  To respond to a referral, click on Referrals on left hand toolbar, scroll down and you will be able to confirm the volunteer.  Referrals help you keep track of volunteers. For example, you can look up volunteers who signed up within the last week, or last six months. You can also search for volunteers who listed themselves as available during certain periods of the week.  Once you have confirmed your volunteer referral, you can contact them directly, or use 1-800 to email them.

12. Emailing Volunteers  To email volunteers, click the arrow next to Reporting on the lefthand side.  Then, click on Email Reports.  You can then select from Email Opportunity Participants or Email Volunteers.  Once you have clicked on Email Volunteers, you must select a Communication Preference : either limited, standard or open.

13. Emailing Volunteers  You are also able to export any of these lists by scrolling to the bottom of the list and clicking on either PDF, Excel formated or Excel unformated icons.  When emailing volunteers, you may want to delete the email address that is automatically listed in the BCC colomn.
