4 Longniddry Fairtrade Village 10 years ago - Longniddry Church Achieved Fairtrade status 5 years ago - Longniddry village achieved Fairtrade status Events: Fairtrade stalls at the Community Centre and at Longniddry Primary School; displays in Longniddry library; posters in local shops; visits to the local youth group.

5 North Berwick Fairtrade Town Fairtrade Town Status Aug 2009 New group, new motivation!

6 East Linton Primary School Became 1 st Fairtrade School in East Lothian in 2010

7 East Lothian Fairtrade Network Aim To raise awareness of what Fairtrade is in the towns and villages of East Lothian Encourage local groups to set-up and work towards getting Fairtrade status The ultimate goal is to achieve Fairtrade 'County' status, where the whole of East Lothian is seen to be actively promoting and encouraging Fairtrade

13 Small Grant Scheme Aim - to provide small grants to organisations in East Lothian that want to promote Fairtrade by raising awareness. Opened Jan 2011 - ongoing until March 2012 (unless funding is exhausted earlier). Grants between £10 - £150

14 Who can apply? The grant scheme is open to a wide variety of groups in East Lothian: Community & voluntary groups Fairtrade town & village steering groups Charities Places of worship Schools Youth groups Social enterprises Businesses

15 Eligible activity... Eligible activities must promote awareness of what Fairtrade is and the benefits of supporting Fairtrade. The scheme will support the following types of activities: Venue hire Marketing and promotion of events Fairtrade samples and goods Holding taster sessions and open days Purchase of Fairtrade equipment or items Transport costs Volunteer expenses Any other costs associated with eligible activity
