1 Question 1: How do we define the personality traits of a hero? You define a hero by many aspects of their personality and their actions they do for others. A HERO is a person of "distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities that puts himself in harms way for the better good of others without expecting reward. “Columbia University’’ “Craig, Bryan”

2 Question 2: How do the setting, conflicts, and antagonists influence the development of literary heroes? FDR’s early setting made him what he was. He grew up and around wealthy families. He studied at Harvard and began his career as a lawyer. 3 Question 3: How does a hero reflect his/her particular culture and society? Franklin Roosevelt was willing to try new ideas to solve America's problems. Perhaps most importantly, he had courage and a good attitude. 4 Question 4: How does a hero represent his/her time period and geographical area? FDR had a big responsibility to represent the time period he grew up in because most people in that era were full of worry and were living in the hard time of the great depression. He tried to improve the courts and jails. He supported lower prices for electricity, and he also started programs to help farmers earn more money for their crops. He was elected to four terms of presidential office in 1932, 1936, 1940 and 1944, which was more than any other president in Americas history. 7 Question 7: Was FDR a succesful president? Roosevelt did many good things as the president of the United States. He started many new government programs and agencies and created many new jobs. “Tennessee Valley Authority helped to build dams and power plants that made energy for people in seven states. The Agricultural Adjustment Act helped support farmers. The Civilian Conservation Corps put 2.5 million young people to work in the nation's parks and forests”. “Burgan, Michael” “ Frank, Freidel”

8 Question 8: What was FDR's plan to stop the great depression and to help revive America? Roosevelt did many things to help revive America during the great depression like issuing a ton of programs to pump money into the economy. One was the Civilian conservation corporation which offered short term work to men on conservation projects. 9 Question 9: What was FDR's childhood like that led him to become president? Roosevelt was educated privately at home until age 14 and was an only child. FRD assumed responsibility for those less fortunate and exercising Christian stewardship through public service programs. 10 Question 10:Were there any downsides or negative things FDR did as president? Some people believed Roosevelt took advantage of Nazism to relieve the nations fighting Germany of virtually all their wealth, which could be seen as pretty low. Under the New Deal, he started an agency that actually paid farmers to stop working, which was later cancelled.
