2  Every community, organization, or agency should have a vision and mission statement.  IPRA Vision “building a better Iowa through parks and recreation”  IPRA Mission “to support the advancement of park, recreation, and environmental conservation opportunities through education, resource tools, and advocacy”

3  Established in 1939, IPRA has enjoyed a rich history of promoting quality leisure services throughout Iowa.  Partnered with Iowa Amateur Softball Association since 1970’s. Both organizations had same staff.  Hired first full-time executive director, 2001.  Staff – 1 full-time / 1 half-time.  Share same office space with IASA.  Office located in Grinnell, Iowa.

9 Each year IPRA strives to offer three higher education scholarships 2011, we gave $2,250 to three deserving students Working with Iowa Foundation for Parks and Recreation fellowship/scholarship is offered to attend Fall Workshop and Spring Conference

10 Major shift due to retirement of baby-boomers within next 3-5 years. 2010 first year baby-boomer generation is retiring. These individuals have a long rich history with his/her community (25 to 30 years). Agency succession planning. Younger generations are more likely to stay in a position for only 3 to 5 years. Communication with younger generation is via text message and Facebook. Few are using email or even cellular phone calls. Work ethic in addition to expectations are also different for many young individuals
