2 Clara MANSUY INTRODUCTION Definition: illegal downloading consists in downloading music, videos or software which are not free without paying. Statistics in France: 40% of people download illegally. Illegal downloading concerns especially music (20%) and videos (13%). France is the most affected country. Then we have the USA and the UK

New text adopted in June 2009: Hadopi 2 Guilty or not, only the subscriber is responsible for what is going on on his PC Sanctions : the subscriber will be deprived of his internet access for one year maximum and won’t be authorized to subscribe to another internet provider
