WHEN to use the Makes Sense Vocabulary Strategies Can apply at the beginning of a lesson to pre- teach vocabulary (not my first choice) Use during the lesson to facilitate note taking about important terms Use toward the end of the lesson to “anchor” key concepts taught within the context of the lesson All can be used as homework assignments (best assigned after the concept was taught during class) All are great alternative assessment tools
