9 9/19 Air Transport – Alignment with the EU Policies Turkey member of the EUROCONTROL since 1989 has the intention to be integrated into the Single European Sky common goal: a comprehensive air transport agreement between Turkey and the EU DG of Civil Aviation (the Regulatory Body) Being supported by: IPA Project: Enhancing the safety and security training requirements of the Turkish civil aviation system

11 11/19 Maritime Transport– Alignment with the EU Policies Main Topic Maritime Safety – Environment Protection MARPOL and SOLAS Conventions Adoption of Relevant Secondary Legislations Most of the Commitments have been accomplished 4 Laws 11 By-laws Turkey became a party to 34 IMO conventions and protocols (27 more, on the way)

12 12/19 Maritime Transport– Alignment with the EU Policies Establishment of Emergency Response Centres against Marine Oil Pollution and Pollution from Other Harmful Substances Planned to be operational in 2017 (An action under the National Action Plan for EU Accession) PARIS MoUTurkey Grey List in 2006 White List since 2008 Other Important Initiatives: OTS-AIS (Automatic Identification System) GTYS-VTMS (Vessel Traffic Management System) LRIT (Long Range Identification and Tracking) TBGTH- TSVTS (Turkish Straits Vessel Traffic Services)

15 15/19 Road Transport– Alignment with the EU Policies Digital Tachograph Compulsory for international commercial vehicles since 2011 (passenger and freight) registered after 16 June 2010 Ministry appointed the TOBB (The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey) for some implementation procedures Turkish Road Traffic Safety Strategy and Action Plan (31 st July, 2012) 50% decrease in road accident causalities in 2020 (compared to 2010) (in line with UN’s and EU’s objectives)
