CH. 8: GEOMETRY 8.1- PERIMETER AND CIRCUMFERENCE

DEFINITION OF A POLYGON

PERIMETER P = 4sP = 2l + 2w P = a + b + c

CIRCUMFERENCE  The circumference of a circle is the distance around the outside, just as the perimeter of a polygon is the distance around the outside. Circumference is the perimeter for a circle.  The radius of a circle is the distance from the center of the circle to the circle itself (the edge of the circle) Denoted by the letter r.  The diameter of a circle is the distance from one side of the circle to the other, through the center. Denote by the letter d.

CIRCUMFERENCE OF A CIRCLE Semi-Circle C = 2 π r or C = d π C = π r
