Eco Building By Jordan Burgh, Hayoung Sun, and Nicole Burke

Our Elements Water: composting toilet Waste: Composter Materials: Sustainable flooring Heating and Cooling: Active solar ( Water heating) Lighting: LED

Composting toilet The human excrement is normally mixed with sawdust, coconut coir, peat moss to support aerobic processing, absorb liquids, and to reduce the odor The decomposition process is generally faster than the anaerobic decomposition used in wet sewage treatment systems such as septic tanks. We want to use it because it creates compost that can go to the gardens and the general plant life that is in Robin’s Park

Composter We want to use a composter because it is very cheap It could also be used to help cut down on the amount of trash that they make If you buy a composter it can be up to $22.99

Sustainable Flooring (Cork) Cork floors can absorb a lot more sound keeping it quiet to the outside The cork flooring is a renewable resource because it is taken from the cork oak tree which is replenished every nine years making it a renewable resource Cork flooring is fire resistant and also can lock in heat Prices range from $4.18- $3.59

Active solar (water heating) Needs solar panels Can cost up to $5,000 but can save at least $23.16 every month

Natural light LED These lights are $24 and the regular lights are $1 LED light bulbs last for 8.5 years or 3,125 days. We want to use these lights because they will last longer that the normal light bulb and do not release as much heat as normal light bulbs.

Solar Thermal Plant (Steps to Make Electricity) 1)Sunlight is collected and concentrated on oil pipes, which are running through solar panels. 2)The sunlight generates temperatures which are high up to make steam. 3)The steam runs the turbines, therefore creating electricity

Advantages Great environmental impact Can be built within 1-2 years Has no Carbon Dioxide(CO2) Saves additional costs

Disadvantages Very expensive May affect desert areas Low efficiency Needs to access the sun most of the time Possible chance it could be sabatoged
