1 Creating a Visual Organizer Using Inspiration By Barbara Schulz University of Southern Colorado © 2002 Teacher Education Program

2 Begin Inspiration You should see the blank Main Idea bubble. Change its label to Influences on Educational systems Press shift/enter to finish typing.

3 Changing the look of your organizer Click on the symbol on the panel on the left side to choose one that fits your theme… if you click the arrows, you can see many more choices

4 With Uncle Sam highlighted, click on the create button to make new links that are attached to him. Then choose symbols for them that are appropriate.

5 Continue adding other influences until you have those that are directly related to the main idea. Adding Topics to the Main Idea

6 After you have read the materials listed on the web site, add details to each of our topics. Remember, to type in the bubbles, simply double click on them. In this case add details from your reading about how the Federal Government influences education. Adding Details to Your Organizer

7 So after visiting the site Evolution of the Federal Role in Education we can then add these subtopics to our diagram:Evolution of the Federal Role in Education

8 Now it’s your turn to add more details for the influences of State and Local Governments as you read these next two site: No Child Left Behind State Agencies
