3 Where does EWB fit in? Ease of Impact Impact OECDs World Bank, IMF Regional Governments (Zambia, Burkina Faso, Ghana) Local international development organizations Subsistence Farmer EWB works in Canada to influence policy change, such as with bill C-293, 0.7% EWB works overseas with existing int’n development organizations through the JF and OV programs

4 The past year… 72 Overseas Volunteers 500 HSO volunteers reached 16,300 students (Over 40,000 in the past 5 years) Outreach to over 100,000 Canadians 2300 engineering students took part in courses that included human and sustainable development content

16 Fair Trade – The Facts North American consumers pay $4 to $11 a pound for coffee bought from growers for about 80 cents a pound. Growers who sell to fair trade organizations earn $1.12 to $1.26 a pound Of $3.6 trillion of all goods exchanged globally, fair trade accounts for only.01%
