11 FLOWER PARTS DEFINITIONS Stamen: the male reproductive part of a flower Anther: located at the top of the stamen and contains the pollen Filament: the part of the flower that holds the anther Pistil: the female reproductive part of a flower Ovary: contains the ovules and located at the base of the pistil Stigma: the uppermost part of the pistil where the pollen grains land during pollination Style: a tube that connects the stigma to the ovary Petal: one of the leafy, usually colored, sterile parts of a flower Sepal: small, sterile leaves at the base of a flower
