1 Using the Ipad in Early Childhood Education Elissa Naas, Alyssa Renken, and Renee Williams

2 Centers  The class is going to be divided into three sections.  Each center will be three minutes long  Please move clockwise to next station quickly and quietly.

3 Teaching with an ipad  There are many different ways to teach in the 21 st century. How can a teacher determine the best way to teach?  The skills children need to thrive in the 21 st century can be hard to cover in one school year. How can one teacher cover all the requirements? Is the ipad an effective tool for equipping students for 21 st century skills?

4 Teachers can teach with an ipad using  Apps  Music  Games  Simulations  Social media

5 Core Subjects  The ipad can adapt to any subject depending on the app downloaded.  Whatever the subject, the ipad can creatively engage students and capture their full attention.

6 Life and Career Skills  The ipad can be used to teach children flexibility and adaptability.  With the wide variety of apps students can learn to use one device to learn countless things.  Preschool age students can use the ipad to learn how to manage a device independently.

7 Information, Media and Technology Skills  Teaching with ipads is using technology in its most mature level  Students can use ipads to participate in learning activities that would not have been possible without the ipad.

8 Learning and Innovative Skills  The ipad can be used to help students think more creatively.  Apps on the ipads encourage critical thinking and problem solving without the child even realizing it.
