Help for Thursday’s final (Internal Assessment A and B)

____ The aim of the study is described (Use psychology words to describe the aims – ‘memory’, cognition, etc…) Short term, long term, etc… Schema, gender, processing, any behavior,

___The study replicated is clearly identified and explained. (List the authors of the original study, and identify the findings of the study.) (Use the APA or officially cite the reference… and describe their conclusions.) This has to be in your own words… Explain what the original authors did explain how they did it. _____The significance of the study to be replicated is explained. (Show how the study you are duplicating affected the psychology field.) The best way to do this is to mention other studies that resulted from this experiment or other ideas that came out… OR studies that experimented with similar topics If you want a guarantee of points for this category, name names! name studies!

_____ The Independent Variable and the Dependant Variable are accurately identified. (Remember, the ‘If’ of an “If-Then” statement is the independent variable.) First! Describe the independent and dependant variable of the original study. Then! Describe your independent and dependant variable. _____The design is appropriate and justified. (Discuss methods of design (laboratory, Field, and explain how your design is appropriate… add weaknesses and strengths of your approach also.) Talk about what type of experiment you are doing, and why it is appropriate… describe the strengths and weaknesses… but IN YOUR OWN WORDS _____ Ethical guidelines are followed. (Explain how the experiment was designed to be as free of anxiety as possible… show how you attempted to make the participants feel comfortable –used consent forms, anonymity, studies free of conformity.) For sure, describe all of the ways you will make the participants feel confortable.

Other ideas: Craik and Lockhart –Elaborate information lead to more memory retention. Dijksterhuis and van Knippenberg –Think about professors vs. hooligans, see how they do on trivia questions Bransford and Franks –Does the detail of sentences help them recognize the sentences later? Neisser 1964 –Letter recognition in lists… Anderson and Pichert (1978) –Mental schema and remembering details of a story
