3 City Rich people = escaped from city  Lots of noise  Compact The poor people stayed in the city.  They didn’t have enough money to build their own houses.

4 Countryside Rich people People neglected their houses  New villas, bungalows Vertical houses with open spaces = residential landscape

5 Apartments Situated next to highway Situated next to highway = practical = practical Huge buildings with lots of little apartments Since the 60’s, people had to live Since the 60’s, people had to live smaller smaller

6 Prosperity bomb in the 60’s Economic = rise  People became rich = individualistic  Every family had his own house (nearby city + detached house)

7 Now… “Your house lives longer than you…” -Sustainability -Isolation -Safety

8 Materials … Floor plan  except for the floor plan, the family could choose how they wanted their house Before: - white blocks in plaster - houses built in a very short time Now: - bricks - it takes a long time to build a house

9 Home styling now Farmhouse style Modern houses The style of the 60’s has completely disappeared (Except for folding doors and big windows )

12 Kitchen In the 60’s Practical reason They didn’t spend a lot of time in it They ate in the dining room NOT in the kitchen Important objects: - dishwasher - cooker - cooker hood Now Central place of the house We eat in the kitchen OR dining room

14 Living room In the 60’s Kitchen and living room are two separated rooms Central place of the house On the first floor  view of the garden Now The living room is extended with the kitchen
