King owns & provides for colony (father to child) 2.fear for family’s safety in england 3.fear military 4.GA still dependent on King $ Whigs bka Patriots, Liberty Boys, Sons & Daughters of liberty=want independence Why? 1. paying taxes other citizens don’t 2.don’t have the same rights as citizens in England 3.*no representation in Parliment

6 1 st Continental Congress send a resolution Objectives: 1. demand same rights as British citizens in GB 2. vs. Intolerable Acts (did not agree w/ Rights & Privileges of an Englishman)

7 Provincial Congress (Ga only) Objective: cut or remain ties w/King George III

8 2 nd Continental Congress Objectives: 1. send a resolution to King George asking stop unfriendly actions 2. create a Continental Army (George Washington)

15 Siege of Savannah American + French vs. British= British remain in control of Savannah Important to obtain: capital, major port, arsenal

16 Battle of Yorktown George Washington vs. Cornwallis= Washington won; this will change the tone of the Revolution (British do not believe they can defeat Americans)

17 Treaty of Paris 1783 Treaty to end the American Revolution France, Great Britain, and United States

18 Participation in War Whites were to be paid but due to low funds; received land Blacks-(except GA and SC) recruited and offered freedom to fight with British.
