Questions are readily understood, responses are confident, whole phrases, good intonation and pronunciation. Student also able to ask questions of the teacher – correctly formed. Level 3 – some hesitancy, more difficult structures may have errors e.g. framing question ‘cual es tu nacionalidad?’ most easier questions confidently answered in whole phrases. When forming questions, meaning is obvious, may be some missing elements, words forgotten, esp verbs Level 2 – answers given to simplest questions – a few questions need some repetition or modelling before being understood, answers understandable but not always well formed. Examples of performance at whole levels: Level 4 – may be be perfect but student shows accurate spelling, awareness of sentence formation, some verb forms well known, awarness of gender and some correct use – all complete sentences. Occasional use of 3 rd person. Level 3 – mostly complete sentences and can use several different verbs correctly to give essential personal information. Spelling understandable. Level 2 – some whole phrases, spelling approximate, verbs may be omitted, gender random.
