3 What is the NDC? The NENA Development Conference is an opportunity for NENA members to become involved in the essential work of NENA committees and working groups.

4 How? By participating in discussions, offering feedback, asking questions and sharing your insights and experiences– you help the committees create better standards, documents, and other products that meet the needs of the 9-1-1 industry.

5 What will we do here? Attend Participate in a series of interactive sessions on a variety of topics that reflect current NENA efforts.

8 Brief History of the DSC Initial Committee work began in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s NENA established standards to coordinate between carriers & PSAPs to implement & maintain 9-1-1 In June 1991 first NENA Data Exchange format standard issued

9 History Continued In January 1996 first NENA Data Management and E9-1-1 PSAP Equipment Standards issued In February 2000 first Tandem to Tandem connectivity Standards issued

10 08/2003 – NENA meeting in Atlanta to begin planning for NG9-1-1 Set standards for migration to NG9-1-1 including i1, i2 and i3 (anticipating i3, v2 being published 1Q2016 and i3, v3 work to begin) NG9-1-1 Development, Transition, Security

11 Other Important Milestones Accessibility Standards Developed standard processes for handling Number Portability Wireless Integration Model Legislation & Recommendations for handling MLTS

12 Milestones, Continued… Standards for Local Service Provider Information Sharing Network & PSAP Quality Assurance Standards Use of PSAP Operations Protocols Implementation of E2 Interface

13 Continued Efforts Work with other SDOs (IETF, ATIS, ESIF, APCO, TIA, CTIA, etc.) and government agencies (FCC, Congress, USDOT, etc.) for the betterment of 9-1-1 in North America. All Standards & Other Documents available at: http://www.nena.org/?page=Standards

22 But How? There is no “National 9-1-1 Authority” It falls on a collection of entities to support the progress of the Nation’s 9-1-1 System NENA is a critical piece of that effort
