My Rotary Club and yours does good work in our communities.

How can we extend our good work to the Community of the World?

THE ROTARY FOUNDATION

What’s the Goal of the Rotary Foundation?

Advance world understanding, goodwill and peace throughout the world, through the improvement of health, support of education and the elimination of poverty. Sounds like a pretty big job, doesn’t it?

What does The Rotary Foundation do? Why is it so successful?

The Rotary Foundation: Reaches across political and geographical borders Is a non-religious organization Focuses on all of the greatest educational and humanitarian needs Has a world reach GREATER than the United Nations Is YOUR Foundation!

OK, but what “exactly” does it do? Matching Grants Overseen by Rotary clubs Group Study Exchange Teams Led by Rotarians; team members are sponsored by local Rotary clubs Ambassadorial and World Peace Scholars nominated by Rotary clubs

But what about here, in our communities? Community Project Grants: Up to $3,000 available as a match Can be used for either local or international projects Rotary Clubs apply by June 1 $39,613 distributed in 12-13 in D7570

And why is The Rotary Foundation so successful? Because Rotarians like you and me are involved in almost every aspect of the work done by the Foundation!

Imagine: Clean Water - for an entire village!

Where does the money come from?

Rotary Foundation funds Annual Fund (formerly called Annual Programs Fund) Restricted Funds – PolioPlus and Matching Grants Permanent Fund

How much of your Annual Fund contribution goes to programs after administration and promotion costs?

How does this work?

The funds were invested for 3 years: 09-10, 10-11, and 11-12. For this year, 2012-2013, the funds were divided into two pools: District 7570 contributed $406,000 to the Annual Fund in 2009-2010. $203,000 was set aside as DDF: District uses for Matching Grants CPGs, GSE Team, Scholarships $203,000 was set aside as World Fund: TRF uses for Matching Grants, GSE Teams, Disasters

It’s the earnings off of the 3-year cycle of investments that pays for the operation of the Rotary Foundation. So, 100% of your contribution is spent on the programs of the Foundation!

Polio Eradication – Rotary’s Largest Humanitarian Project Since 1985, Rotarians have contributed towards the eradication of Polio. Responding to the Gates’ Foundation $200 million challenge, Rotarians have raised more than $225 million since 2007. We are “THIS CLOSE!”
