12 G ETTING S TARTED WITH YOUR W IKISPACE Go to: www.wikispaces.com/site/for/teachers www.wikispaces.com/site/for/teachers Enter your username, password, e-mail address, and space name. Certify that your space will be used exclusively for K-12 education and click “Join.”

13 E DIT YOUR W IKI Editing a page is easy. Just click the “Edit This Page” button at the top of the page, and an editor will open. The Editor Bar

14 A DDING L INKS TO YOUR W IKI While in the Edit mode, you can also add links to other pages on your space or to other websites. Highlight the text you wish to link and click on the Link Button in the Editor Toolbar

15 A DDING I MAGES AND F ILES TO YOUR W IKI Click on the File button in the Editor Toolbar Click on Upload Files Browse your computer for the file or image you wish to upload to your wiki

16 A DDING V IDEOS, C ALENDARS, AND OTHER W IDGETS TO YOUR W IKI Click on the Widget button in the Editor Toolbar Choose the type of object you’d like to embed, such as a video, calendar, or slideshow.

Avoid the Field of Dreams approach Just because you have a wiki, doesn’t mean people will come visit and actively participate Advertise/Brand Marketing Talk about your wiki and encourage parents and others to visit Keep your wiki up to date Have your students log on to your wiki Enlist the help of others Email Start small
