All about our skeletal system

 Bones help you stand, walk, and run  Bones also protect important organs  Bones also works with the muscles and other parts of your body  Broken bones could grow together again  Bones develop from a rubbery material called cartilage

 Compact bone, spongy bone, yellow bone marrow  Number of bones and major bones  Ligaments and joints

 I am the compact bone, spongy bone, and yellow bone marrow

 Makes the bones hard enough so that they can provide support to the body and protect other organs.  The epiphysis is composed of compact bone on the outside.  Rickets, osteoporosis, scolds.

 Spongy bone produces cells that help with blood clotting, store minerals, produce periosteum, and make the bone lightweight.  The epiphysis is made mostly of spongy bone with an open.  Fractures

 Yellow bone marrow stores fat which the body consumes as a last resort in cases of extreme starvation.  To help repair damage a layer of circumferential lamellae wraps around the circum ferenceo.  Leukemia

 The main function of my organ is to support and to protect your bones.  It serves as a store house for calcium and phosphorus  99% of all calcium in the body, for example it is stored in the bones!  The other 1% is found in the blood and body fluids.

 Providing them with structure and space  It has a enough air for the organs to breathe under the ribcage

 Leukemia  Osteoporosis  Scurvy  Arthritis

 The ligaments hold bones and joints together  If ligaments weren’t there your bones would collapse  The joints help you bend your hands to help you pick stuff up and or move

 The cartilage works with the joints by the cartilage holding them tightly  Ligaments and tendons work together to make the spines strong and flexible

 Sprain  Dislocation  inflammation

 Why they should keep us

 We might think of bones as solid objects, but they are not as simple as that.  They are made up of several different layers, complete with a blood supply and nerves.  Their structure makes them strong and light  Without a skeleton, your body would be nothing more than a heap of muscles and soft tissue.
