2. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?  Using web 2.0 I was able to conduct research online to enable me to discover resources that would influence our film making process.  Using search engines such as Google and being able to be specific in content enabled us to gain the information that we wanted quickly and effectively.  I went onto specific film industry insight websites, and websites that provided information to both the public and people working in film.  BFI (British Film Institute) was a very informative website and gave us lots of information on how films are certified and the criteria the films are assessed on before given an official rating, this helped us identify our target audience and enabled us to market our film appropriately towards that type of customer.

3.  Youtube proved to be a very important factor in our research, as it provided influence for our trailer in the types of films/television show trailers that we looked at. It also provided us with the chance to compare other trailers in the same or similar genres.  This year the cameras that we were provided with were much more advanced than the previous year, digital and far easier to operate Canon EoS 600D  Having studied Graphic Design for the previous two years this gave me an added advantage when designing a poster for our piece, I was able to alter smaller details that other students may not have necessarily known how to do such as altering the lighting on a couple of the layers thus giving a different effect on the photograph in that layer.

4.  We went on to various websites for inspiration for our fonts and we decided in the end to go to this particular website called DaFont, that allowed us to download free word art fonts after choosing a couple of the fonts that we liked the look of we decided to go for ‘Brouillis’ as it was big, bold and effective in catching the eye of the viewer.  We needed a soundtrack for our soundscape, the type of music that we needed had to fit well with our footage, in addition to this the music obtained was required to be copyright free and we found a website that allowed us to do this called ‘Soundcloud’ and we choose a song with the name of ‘Oh Gawd’ by RL Grime v Big Sean – we altered the song in various places by ‘cutting’ it and also changing the pitch of voice as well as the speed.

5.  The way that I presented my work this year has mostly been through two mediums, my blog and PowerPoint presentations.  I did this because I felt that these two ways were the most simple and effective ways to display my research and findings. I also felt that by taking this approach it did not over complicate things by using different types of media.  I was able to present my work in a clean cut manner that was uncomplicated simple to read and effectively displayed.  Youtube has helped us in may ways over this project, it has enabled us to watch film trailers to help with our research, influenced the way we created our trailer.  We also used social media platforms such as Facebook to gain feedback on our ancillary products, this helped us reach a wider spectrum of people over different age ranges and different tastes. This proved useful for market research, and being able to tweak our pieces further.
