1 7 Sections Of A Perfect Student Resume May 22, 2012

2 Academics  Under this heading, list your high school, date of graduation, Grade Point Average (GPA), and any major test scores (SAT or ACT).SAT  Davidson High School September 2003 – June 2007 GPA: 3.54 SAT Score: 2100

3 Activities/Interests  Explain some the interests and activities that make you unique. This will be a pool of information you can draw on when you are looking for stories to illustrate a point in one of your essays.

4 Experience/Volunteer Work Service Tell Andre story  Explain where you worked and who you worked for. Include dates, responsibilities, titles, employer’s name, and employer’s contact info.  Sam’s Sporting Store May 2005 – Present Part-time Sports Salesman. Helped customers find the right equipment for many sports including soccer, basketball, badminton, and volleyball. 5 Community/Volunteer Service  3. List all the community service activities you took part in. Include the same details you mentioned in the “Experience” section.  Sandre’s Soup Kitchen August 2004 – February 2006 and list hours Dish Washer. Cleaned the dirty dishes. Often we were lacking for clean dishes, so I learned to work well and quickly under pressure. Manager: Varied

7 Academic Memberships/Organizations  Under this heading list any clubs or associations you were a member of.  Future Farmers of America September 2005 – August 2006 Went to weekly club meetings. Gave a presentation of the topic of “Raising Organic Pigs”. Entered my 253 pound pig in the Hillsdale County Fair and won 3rd place

8 Athletic Memberships/Organizations  Under this heading list any clubs or associations you were a member of.  Track Express AAU and USATF track and field team (2008-Current)  AAU Local and Regional Champions (4x100, 4 x 400)  Long Jump Local and Regional Champion (2007)  National Junior Olympian Track and Field (2008 - 2011)  National Junior Olympian 8 th Place in Long Jump (2008)  Long Jump, 4x100, 4x400

9 Follow on  Now that you are done…  Once you have completed your student resume, print it out and keep it handy when you are writing college application or scholarship essays. This will be your “cheat sheet” for details about your experience and qualifications.  Keep in mind, this is not the resume you will use to apply for a job. Your student resume should only be read by you because it has too much private contact information on it. It really is only an information sheet that you can use when applying to college, writing scholarship essays, and building your public resume  Update constantly.
