2 The Beginning James Clerk Maxwell developed the first radio-wave theorem in 1864.

3 Hertz’s experiments Heinrich Hertz experimented with Maxwell’s thesis in 1888.

4 Followers Augusto Righi, an Italian physicist, and another scientist, Temistocle Calzecchi- Onesti, continued and refined Hertz’s work.

5 Oliver Lodge In 1894, Oliver Lodge named Temistocle’s famous "tube" the "coherer" and increased the reception gain of the hertzian waves.

6 Italian inventor Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi sent and received his first radio signal in Italy in 1895.

7 Nikola Tesla Nikola Tesla is now credited with being the first person to patent radio technology; the Supreme Court overturned Marconi's patent in 1943 in favor of Tesla.
