4 What to DO during an Earthquake 1.Drop, Cover and Hold: get under a sturdy piece of furniture (e.g. table) and cover your head and neck. Hold onto the table during the shaking. 2.Wait 60 seconds before coming out. If shaking resumes, repeat Note: Most people are injured in earthquakes by things falling on them. 3. Move away from overhead hazards Ceiling mounted projectors Stay away from glass, windows or anything that could fall, such as lighting fixtures or furniture 4. Always cover your head and neck 5.If inside during an earthquake, stay inside! 6.If outside during an earthquake, stay outside! Move into the open, away from buildings, street lights, and utility wires. Once in the open, stay there until the shaking stops. Be aware of your surroundings.
