1 MARKETING AND SALES DEVELOPMENT COORDINATORS BRYCE BYRNES

2 JOB OVERVIEW Marketing and sales development coordinators may have many responsibilities; among many other responsibilities they handle advertisements and public relations. Their duties may vary by employer. They have to create sale tools and marketing tools, which may include creating a brochure, press releases, newsletters, sales letters and product updates. They conduct a lot of market research also analyzing research data.

3 WORKING CONDITIONS A trade show could start at any time of day; it's not in your control. The hours you work may vary by who you’re working with, what you’re working with etc. You quite rarely work a set schedule. A good majority of your job is working in trade shows, promoting your companies product.

4 SALARY On average, starting wage can range anywhere from 28-30 dollars per hour. Wage is dependent on your education and employer.

5 FUTURE OUTLOOK Marketing and sales is vital for any company creating or producing product, so yes. This occupation will always be in demand. Proper promotion of a product is key. It’s not an overly competitive field to go into, plus job openings are endless.

6 POST SECONDARY OPTION #1 School and what interests me: Sauder Business School located on UBC Vancouver campus. A four year program that gives me a dual major in Business and Computer Science. Cost: Tuition is $42,179 CAD* Requirements: Minimum of 84% average to be accepted into the Program.

7 POST SECONDARY OPTION #2 I would like to attend UBC Vancouver as my first choice. I would go into a Marketing course and get my Bachelor of Commerce degree. I would need to have all my basic High School courses as well as grade 12 math and English courses. Costs: Educational costs (Full first-year course load) Tuition- $4,916 Student Fees- $1,069 Books- $1,560 Educational costs subtotal $7,545 Living costs (8 months) Room and board- $7,785 Personal expenses- $2,500 BC Health Insurance- $432 Living Costs Subtotal- $10,717 Estimated total cost- $18,262

8 POSTSECONDARY OPTION #3 School and what interests me: SFU Surrey. They offer a BusOne program which is perfect for people looking to go into business like I am. A very nice school campus along with a good reputation. Costs: About 1060 dollars for the first year including all extra fees (clothing, foods, housing, internet etc.) Requirements: General Admission Requirement: Pre- Calculus 11 or Foundations of Mathematics 11 to replace Principles of Mathematics 11 Faculty/Program Specific Requirements: Pre-Calculus 12 to replace Principles of Mathematics 12

9 RELATED OCCUPATIONS If working as a Marketing and Sales Development Coordinator doesn’t work out I could go into Sales or Marketing Management. Also a job in Public Relations.

10 WHAT INTERESTS ME IN THE CAREER A high energy job, Coordinators can work for any company with a product or service to sell. You do a lot of organizing of trade shows. I am energetic and a great promoter of products. I only found this job when I took the job test, did some more researching and became more interested. I however have always been interested in the mechanics of advertising and sales.
