10 FY 2001 DOL and Job Corps Goal 1 – Reduce injury/Illness Rate by 3% (3.49 case per 100 employees/students) DOL result: 2 nd qtr – 3.79 Job Corps result: 2 nd qtr - 1.30

15 Goal 2: Improve Timeliness of Filing Injury Claims  Claims filed with OWCP within 10 work days/14 calendar days from date form received from student - Date in block 23 on CA-1 Form - Date in block 26 on CA-2 Form  Proper coding of “Type of Injury” and“Source of Injury” - no “insufficient data” codes

16 GOAL 2 STRATEGIES:  Electronic filing of injury/illness Forms - Significantly improve timely filing DOL injury claims. - Provide accurate, detailed, real- time data on DOL injury/Illnesses

17 Goal 2 Strategies:  Electronic Filing Feature - Web Based – Through Labor Net - Desk top availability CA-1 CA-2 forms - Electronic transmission from J C workers’ compensation coordinator to OWCP

18 Injury Definitions and Filing Procedures First Aid Injury Any one time treatment, and follow up visit for minor scratches, cuts burns or splinters whether provided by physician or other registered professional personnel

19 Processing First Aid Injuries - Record on OSHA 2014 log - Record on CA-1 or CA-2 form and file in student’s medical file - Pink copy of form marked “First Aid” sent to OASAM Safety and Health Manager

20 Serious Injuries not Resulting in Separation Injuries requiring medical treatment beyond first aid – may include lost time

21 Processing Serious Injuries - No Separation - Record on OSHA 2014 Log - Record on CA-1 or CA-2 form and file in Student’s medical file - Pink copy of form to OASAM Safety and Health Manager

22 Serious Injuries Resulting in Separation Injuries requiring significant medical attention and serious enough to result in student’s separation from Job Corps

23 Processing Serious Injuries Resulting in Separation - Record on OSHA 2014 log - Record on CA-1 or CA-2 forward form to Of WC Programs - Pink copy to the OASAM Safety and Health Manager (if death, notify OASAM within six hours)
