How to sew a 4 hole button By Alexis Oswald, Kelsey Charlton, Christen Surline

Step 1 Thread a needle with a color to match the button.

Step 2 Take a small stitch where the button is to be placed. Poke a needle through the bottom hole, hold the button in place over the small stitch.

Step 3 Place a straight pin across the top of the holes. Sew with thread going over the top of the pin and down in the opposite hole. (at least 6 times)

Step 4 Then you remove the pin. Poke the needle so that thread comes out under the bottom but, on top of the fabric so you can TIGHTLY wrap around the middle of the stitches. (4 times. This creates a thread shank.)

Step 5 Poke a needle to the back of the fabric. Stitch in place 3 times to make a secure knot. Then trim the thread.

Step 6 When stitching the extra two holes, poke a needle from the underside and continue so the extra thread doesn’t show on top. You must use the same thread for the entire button.
