How were Asians regarded by many white Americans? Physically and mentally inferior to whites. 43. What contributed to the migration from farms to cities in the late 1880’s? Economic hardships on the farms…more opportunities in the cities for work and money. 44. What contributed to the growth of cities? Immigration of people to the U.S. and people migrating within the U.S. helped to cause the explosive growth in the cities.
