2 History of the Winter Olympics & Freestyle skiing Australia have been competing in the winter Olympics from 1924, with the exception of the winter games in Switzerland in 1948. Therefore Australia have been competing in the winter Olympics for 90 years. Australia was one of the first countries to compete in aerial skiing at the winter Olympics. Amazing fact: Lydia Lassila came back from a knee reconstruction in 2006 to win gold in 2010 Vancouver.

3 How the sport works Aerial skiing involves going up high speed ramp / mountains of snow and doing gymnastics and tricks in the air and landing on a hill of snow. When you land if did not land properly you can not touch the snow with your hands because you could push with your hands to get back up and keep skiing. They are also are scored on their jump and their landing

5 Preparing for the olympics They train for 10 months with a strict diet of : Bananas cereal Greek yoghurt peanut butter milk cinnamon oats honey almonds dried cherries dark cherries Gojo berries brazil nuts. Bananas are good for protein and vitamins, cereal is good for calcium iron and vitamins, yoghurt is good for protein and vitamins, peanut butter is good for protein and magnesium, milk is good for calcium and protein, cinnamon is good to put on the tops of healthy smoothies because it is high in the vitamin

6 Preparing for the Olympics Oats are good for iron and cook them in the microwave and you have porridge, honey is good to put on cereal and the rest are good to have as snacks normally.

7 Her inspiration in the sport From a young age she only wanted to go to the Olympics at first it was gymnastics then she had a bad accident that made her retire at a young age of 16 she was very sad that her dream of going to the Olympics and be a gymnast was ruined but one day she saw an advertise of aerial skiing and ever since she saw it she fell I love with it she first competed in the salt lake finals she finished 8 th in 2003 she was already ranked #2 in the world but sadly when she was in Torino she fell over and needed a knee reconstruction but luckily she is still competing in the Olympics 2014 Sochi winter Olympics

8 Her sacrifices Her sacrifices are spending time with her family and friends. She also has to give up going out for dinner, and getting clothes and accessories for herself because she has to save up money to pay for her flights.
