3 NW Tribal Emergency Management Council (NWTEMC)- brief history A consortium of 8 Tribes in Northwest Washington to address Emergency Management and Homeland Security issues faced by those tribes.

8 Organization Interlocal Cooperative Agreement Increase Participating Member Tribes by formal resolution Promote MOU/MOAs with one another & with our local Jurisdictions Future and ongoing goal

9 What Do We Do? We assist in the development of Emergency Management Plans and grants writing We assist one another in raising awareness to Homeland Security issues and mandates

10 What Do We Do? We educate our citizens –Preparedness We train our responders –Response and Recovery We build teams –MRC, CERT, Blockwatch

11 What Do We Do? We provide a link to regional, state, and federal Homeland Security and Emergency Management programs We provide a link for access to resources to enhance and supplement your EM and Homeland Security programs –Federal –State –Regional –Local

12 NWTEMC Assist at Tribal and/or County EOC Provide Templates for Plans –CEMP, PAN FLU Maintain essential databases –Volunteers, resources, shelters, etc. Maintain website as a conduit for sharing information: www.nwtemc.org

13 NWTEMC Assist with response coordination Organize coordinated responder training Facilitate TERC/LEPC to maintain compliance with the Emergency Planning Community Right-to-Know Act Conduct annual NWTEMC conferences

14 Tribal Public Health Emergency Preparedness Provide forum for Region 1 Tribal Clinics to develop Public Health Emergency Management plans Coordinate initial efforts for emergency planning among regional Public Health partners… –Tribes –State –Region –County

15 Tribal Public Health Emergency Preparedness PH issues such as –Quarantine –Isolation –Jurisdiction Tribal PH law or codes Training Public education

16 Tribal Public Health Emergency Preparedness The effort to prepare the tribal clinics that serve their respective communities is off to a great start. The current goal is that tribes will continue to work together to share resources, knowledge, and skills & develop comprehensive public emergency planning documents, address public health issues, and provide a network of expertise that is culturally relevant and sensitive.
