SMART Goal Focus Area  Domain 3: Instruction  Component 3d: Providing Feedback to Students  Domain 3: Instruction  Component 3d: Providing Feedback to Students

My Goal  To provide effective feedback to teacher-candidates.

My SMART Goal  To provide feedback to teacher- candidates in General Instructional Methods and MS Apprenticeship within two weeks of giving the assignment, using rubrics that are provided to the teacher-candidates prior to their turning in of the assignment.

SMART Goal Justification  I personally like written feedback that is specific to the assignment.  I want to continue my work in designing formative and summative assessments that require more engagement on the students part.  I am changing how I grade in MS Apprenticeship, from a point system to feedback then final grade.  Every semester students comment that I need to return work sooner.  I personally like written feedback that is specific to the assignment.  I want to continue my work in designing formative and summative assessments that require more engagement on the students part.  I am changing how I grade in MS Apprenticeship, from a point system to feedback then final grade.  Every semester students comment that I need to return work sooner.

My Improvement Plan In order to achieve my goal I need to: 1.Talk with Block One faculty about my ideas for changing Lesson Plan rubric to better meet teacher-candidate needs (within first few weeks of semester). 2.Have all rubrics created prior to giving assignments. All assignments can be accessed on my website (should be up by end of week!). 1.Talk with Block One faculty about my ideas for changing Lesson Plan rubric to better meet teacher-candidate needs (within first few weeks of semester). 2.Have all rubrics created prior to giving assignments. 14 My Improvement Plan cont. 1.In addition to using the rubric I will also write specific comments to provide more constructive feedback for the teacher- candidate (this will be done with every assignment turned in). 2.I will meet every week with Block One faculty to discuss assignments and assessment. 3.I will consult my calendar on a regular basis to be sure I return items within two week time period!

My Improvement Plan cont. 1.I will have teacher-candidates fill out an evaluation about my work towards my goal (mid- semester evaluation and end of semester evaluation). 2.Continue to track teacher-candidate progress through use of feedback and rubrics (this is part of an overall tracking for class revision - done at end of semester). 1.I will have teacher-candidates fill out an evaluation about my work towards my goal (mid- semester evaluation and end of semester evaluation). 2.Continue to track teacher-candidate progress through use of feedback and rubrics (this is part of an overall tracking for class revision - done at end of semester).
