4 Essential Question  A club is forming at school for Heroes Only. You know that a hero possesses certain character traits and you have one or more of these traits. You know that a hero can be anyone, not just a person with super powers. You will need to write a paper convincing the committee that you should be allowed to join this club. What are you going to write? Why should it be important for all people to possess one or more of the character traits?

9 Tomochici helped the settlers by teaching them about the land and growing their own food. James Oglethorpe helped Tomochichi’s people with schools and helped the settlers form a new colony. Mary Musgrove was the interpretor for Tomochichi and James Oglethorpe Sometimes it takes other people to help us be a Hero

10 Compassion   A feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering Jimmy Carter 1976 Election Results *Number of Actual Votes

11 Good Sportsmanship Jackie Robinson  Conduct and attitude considered as befitting participants in sports, especially fair play, courtesy, striving spirit, and grace in losing

12 Civility Martin Luther King Jr.  A polite action or expression Dr. King had a dream; that one day all people would be treated equally regardless of their race.

13 A Hero Is In YOU!!! In your Hero Journal, write the character traits you think you have and how you show those character traits. After you have written the character traits you possess, write a letter to the Hero Club President and tell them why you should be allowed to join the Hero Club. Don’t forget to include your picture!! You can draw a picture of yourself or bring in a picture. We want to see the Hero in YOU!!!
