Motivation  In 16m, 16m FDD AMSs can coexist with legacy H-FDD MSs  In D1 document, there is only FDD frame structure for 16m only case.  FDD frame structure for supporting legacy H-FDD MSs shall be proposed

Design Philosophy on FDD Frame Structure in legacy Support  Main focus on coexistence of 16m F-FDD and legacy H-FDD which is a promising scenario But, 16m H-FDD can also co-exist  No impact on F-FDD operations when coexisting with legacy H-FDD MSs 16m zone and legacy zone are TDM-multiplexed in the unit of subframes Legacy zone is operated like the zone for H-FDD group 1 In DL, legacy zone is the first In UL, 16m zone is the first  Considering HARQ operation, It is desirable to assign the same number of subframes for DL and UL in 16m zone  Considering legacy DL region and legacy UL region can not be overlapped, the maximum size for legacy DL region and legacy UL region is 2 subframes for 7 MHz (5 subframes) 3 subframes for 8.75 MHz (7 subframes) 4 subframes for 5, 10, 20 MHz (8 subframes)

FDD Frame Structure configurations in Legacy Support  Based on the previous slide, possible configurations can be summarized as follows: Bandwidth No. of subframes in a frame Configurations (16m:Legacy) 5 MHz 8 subframes/frame(6,2), (5:3), (4:4) 10 MHz 20 MHz 7 MHz5 subframes/frame(3:2) 8.75 MHz7 subframes/frame(5:2), (4:3)

FDD Frame Structure in Legacy Support  5, 10, 20 MHz case - (16m:legacy)=(5:3)

FDD Frame Structure in Legacy Support  16m F-FDD AMS operation Can use all the subframes in 16m zone  Legacy H-FDD AMS operation For legacy H-FDD operations, there are two key parameters: No. of OFDMA symbols in DL-MAP1 and No. of OFDMA symbols in UL MAP1 For legacy support, two parameters shall be well adjusted such that legacy UL region and 16m UL region shall not be overlapped. In the previous slide, for example, the following shall be satisfied (considering TTG1=154.22us) No. of OFDMA symbols in DL-MAP1>=23 No. of OFDMA symbols in DL-MAP1+ No. of OFDMA symbols in UL- MAP1<=40 But, DL scheduling for legacy H-FDD MSs should be restricted to legacy DL zone  16m H-FDD AMS operation Considering decoding of SFH&preamble and transition gap, some of UL subframes and DL subframes shall be punctured In the previous slide, for example, UL o,1,2 subframes and the corresponding DL 0, 1, 2 subframes are used

Proposed Text on FDD Frame Structure in Legacy Support [Insert the following text in Section 15.3.3.4.3 on page 244 in line 34 of P802.16m/D1] Figure xxx illustrates an example of frame configuration for supporting the WirelessMAN- OFDMA H-FDD MSs for 5, 10, and 20 MHz with a CP length of 1/8 Tb. The FDD frame structure is separated two regions in the DL and UL for supporting the coexistence of the WirelessMAN- OFDMA H-FDD MSs and AAIF FDD MSs in the same frame. An ABS shall be able to simultaneously support half duplex and full-duplex AMSs in AAIF DL/UL zone. The ABS also supports WirelessMAN-OFDMA H-FDD MSs in WirelessMAN-OFDMA DL/UL zone. For WirelessMAN-OFDMA H-FDD MSs, by using the “No. of OFDMA Symbols” field in DL-MAP1 and UL-MAP1 of the WirelessMAN-OFDMA frame, the ABS shall indicate the number of symbols in DL and UL of the WirelessMAN-OFDMA frame for non-overlapped allocation between WirelessMAN-OFDMA UL zone and AAIF UL zone. In addition, the data bursts for the WirelessMAN-OFDMA H-FDD MSs shall not be transmitted in the AAIF DL zone.
