1 Franklin’s Virtues Mini-Project

2 Directions: 1.Choose the virtue which your poster will illustrate and read Franklin’s explanation of it again carefully. 2.Brainstorm about all the other words, ideas, and/or beliefs which that virtue denotes. 3.Write a paragraph which would persuade others to uphold that virtue; include the benefit(s) of that virtue. 4.Choose a historically famous person who is or could be associated with your chosen virtue. 5.Choose art materials for your project. Will you use markers, crayons, colored pencils, 3-D objects, colored paper, printed pictures? 6.Organize your virtue’s title, your persuasive paragraph, and images of your chosen historical figure onto a small poster board, so that the end product is an effective advertisement for your chosen virtue.

3 Grading Use the following rubric to determine how well you are executing each aspect of the project: 5 = Exemplary 4 = Very Good 3 = Satisfactory 2 = Fair 1 = Poor 0 = Not attempted _______0 - 5 points for EFFECTIVE HISTORICAL REPRESENTATIVE - the extent to which the chosen historical representative (the person ) is effectively and appropriately associated with the chosen virtue _______0 – 5 points for PERSUASIVE PARAGRAPH – the extent to which the paragraph is effective in terms of persuading viewers of the details and benefits of the chosen virtue _______ 0 – 5 points for MECHANICS OF POSTER – the extent to which the written elements of the poster are in keeping with the standards of the language in which it was written _______0 – 5 points for VISUALS the extent to which the poster is aesthetically pleasing – vibrant, fun to look at, pleasing to the eye, artistically presented TOTAL ________ multiplied by 5 = Percent grade
