1 Outcomes & Objectives Objectives To use primary witness evidence to discover what Jack the Ripper may have looked and dressed like. To assess the reliability of witness evidence. To speculate as to the description and occupation the Ripper. Outcomes 1. Study the witness information table and use ‘The Reliability Hand’ to rate the reliability of witness evidence. 2. Complete the table in the Word document to show all the witness evidence in an ‘at-a-glance’ format. 3. Access the Excel workbook and use the data to produce three graphs showing features of the Rippers’ appearance, and write two bullet-points about each graph. 4. Use the ‘Detective Notebook’ slide to jot down any important evidence you have found in the witness statements – are there any links in what you found here to what you found by studying the psychological profile? 5. Complete the ‘Wanted’ profile, using bullet-points and an ‘artists impression’. 6. Follow the search instructions, complete the Comparison Template and answer the questions about how the Ripper’s image has changed. Look at the Book Covers and Film Posters of Jack the Ripper from recent years.Book Covers Film Posters Now ‘Google’ image search ‘Jack the Ripper contemporary pictures’. How is our perception of the appearance of the Ripper now, different from the image portrayed at the time? TASK Complete the task on the next slide, adding some of the differences you have noted between images nowadays and images from the time; AND some similarities. Why do you think the image has changed in this way?
